Join us at Felix Jud Bookstore for an evening discussion between sociologist Aris Komporozos-Athanasiou and psychoanalyst Jamieson Webster, on the occasion of Webster’s new book “On Breathing”. The conversation will be followed by a relaxed drinks reception in the store.

On Breathing is a searching and poetic reflection on the psychic, political, and bodily dimensions of breath. It draws on philosophy, psychoanalysis, and personal experience to explore what it means to breathe in a world that so often constricts us.

As part of their ongoing collaboration on the Futures of Capitalism program, Komporozos-Athanasiou and Webster will also reflect on what it means to ‘put capitalism on the couch’—probing collective denial, shared vulnerabilities, and the psychic contours of planetary collapse. Did psychoanalysis sense the breakdown before the markets did? Was the real myth not collapse, but the sense of coherence we imagined had come before it?
