Commoning Research Institutions and Knowledge Production

On Wednesday, June 5, the Reclaiming Common Welth program will host a workshop at THE NEW INSTITUTE to explore how knowledge institutions can be designed to better accommodate transformative and transdisciplinary modes of research.

The aim of this workshop is to exchange ideas on what it would mean to common knowledge production and research institutions and on how the design of knowledge institutions may be made to correspond better with transformative and transdisciplinary modes of research. It is intended as an informal discussion with a small number of participants who are all involved in one way or another in projects that seek to foster, protect or expand knowledge commons. The motivation for this workshop was a brief lunch conversation with Andreas Roepstorff, Director of the Aarhus Institute of Advanced Studies, who attempts to organize his institute as a knowledge commons and who will also participate in the workshop.
