Maja Göpel to leave Hamburg-based THE NEW INSTITUTE

Transformation researcher and Scientists for Future co-founder Prof. Dr. Maja Göpel has decided, in close consultation with THE NEW INSTITUTE, to leave her position as Director of Research at THE NEW INSTITUTE in order to devote more time to her diverse tasks and projects in the field of science communication.

Maja Göpel: "I thank THE NEW INSTITUTE for this enriching time. I remain convinced of the mission and necessity of this novel institution and will continue to support it. However, in observing the current societal transformations, it has become clear to me that I would like to focus fully on the topic of science and society in the German-speaking world in order to effectively support sustainable innovations in many sectors. Communicating the science behind possible reform is central to building confidence in policy implementations."

"We would like to thank Maja Göpel for her commitment in the current start-up phase. She has opened up valuable perspectives and networks through her rich experience. We are pleased that she will remain with us as an advisor. Also, on behalf of the entire team, I wish Maja all the best for the future", says Dr. Wilhelm Krull, founding director of THE NEW INSTITUTE.

THE NEW INSTITUTE is an Institute of Advanced Study and an international platform for shaping social change. It was founded in Hamburg at the beginning of 2020 with the aim of developing internationally viable solutions to the ecological, economic and political challenges of our time.
