Our program chair Maja Groff, will convene a third committee meeting of a group of eminent legal experts and jurists to draft a model treaty to establish a global anti-corruption court. The initiative, led by a growing coalition of national governments, civil society organizations and individual citizens, is working together to make the court proposed by Integrity Initiatives International (III) a reality.

We, THE NEW INSTITUTE, are pleased to host the third of three meetings in our series with III’s IACC Treaty Committee, whose experts are working to combat global economic crime through the establishment of an International Anti-Corruption Court (IACC).

The initiative has garnered widespread global support, with the Declaration in Support of the Establishment of the IACC endorsed by an impressive array of over 300 prominent individuals and nearly 100 civil society organizations. These supporters include more than 50 former presidents and prime ministers and over 30 Nobel laureates.

Several nations have already committed to work towards the creation of an IACC, including Canada, Colombia, Ecuador, Moldova, the Netherlands, Nigeria, and, most recently, the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The European Parliament has called for the creation of the court and the United Kingdom’s Labour Party has said it will champion the proposal. These countries and many more are actively participating in the initiative.
