Is Feminist Peace within Reach?
A lunch talk with the guest of the program "Black Feminism and the Polycrisis" Toni Haastrup.
Across the continent, African people are grappling with a range of insecurities, many the result of active conflicts and war. Despite time and resources invested, these insecurities continue to resist available interventions risking the ambitions articulated in AU-Agenda 2063.
With this in mind, Toni Haastrup suggests a a pan-African feminist-informed approach to tackling security challenges in Africa. A pan-African feminist-informed approach to insecurity is a radical proposition that prioritizes African agency, the transformation of oppressive gender regimes, and collaboration underpinned by social justice and solidarity for peace.
