Press Invitation: Helmut-Schmidt-Zukunftspreis

On May 15, 2024 Meredith Whittaker will receive the Helmut-Schmidt-Zukunftspreis  – We cordially invite representatives of the press to participate.

The American AI researcher, advisor and manager Meredith Whittaker will be awarded this year's Helmut-Schmidt-Zukunftspreis. She is President of the non-profit Signal Foundation, which oversees the Signal messenger service designed to ensure the security of its users.

The Helmut-Schmidt-Zukunftspreis will be awarded on May 15, 2024 by the weekly newspaper DIE ZEIT, the Federal Chancellor Helmut Schmidt Foundation and THE NEW INSTITUTE at the Thalia Theater in Hamburg. Since 2022, the award has honored innovative achievements in the fields of democracy, society and technology. This year's Helmut-Schmidt-Zukunftspreis will feature a guest appearance by Joschka Fischer. Giovanni di Lorenzo will have a conversation with the former Federal Foreign Minister on the evening of the award ceremony. The interview will focus on the crisis of democracy, the global political situation, and a look into the future.
