BIO

Christian Kastrop is Honorary Professor of Public Finance, Fiscal Rules and International Institutions at the FU Berlin. Up to 2021, he was also State Secretary for Digital Society and Consumer Protection at the Federal Ministry of Justice and Consumer Protection. His vision is an effective and inclusive digital society and a constructive socio-economic transformation, both on an individual and collective level. Before becoming State Secretary, Christian served as Director of the “Europe’s Future” program at the Bertelsmann Stiftung, as Director of the Policy Studies section of the Economics Department at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in Paris, and as Deputy-Director General of various departments within the German Federal Ministry of Finance, including the Economics, European, Money and Banking, and International/G20 Directorate departments.

At THE NEW INSTITUTE Christian is a program chair of "Socio-Economic Transformation".
