Nicolás Rovegno is a Fisheries Engineer with an MSc in Marine Sciences and a consultant for national and international organizations. He has extensive experience working at the intersection of science, policy, and sustainable development, with a strong focus on advancing transparency and responsible fisheries management, having worked in civil society, government, and as a national and international seafood consultant. Currently, Nicolás serves as the Latin American Regional Coordinator for the Fisheries Transparency Initiative (FiTI), where he has secured commitments from the region's first countries to enhance fisheries transparency. Nicolás also led the development and pilot testing of the first digital traceability system for mahi-mahi and jumbo squid at WWF Perú, contributing to more transparent and sustainable seafood supply chains. With a career that spans diverse roles in research, policy advising, and program implementation, Nicolás is committed to improving the livelihoods of fishing communities while promoting sustainable practices.
At THE NEW INSTITUTE, Nicolás is involved in the The Future of Food: Power and Biodiversity program. He will join us in the fall term of 2024.
