Artist, Writer and Researcher

BIO

Till is an artist, writer and researcher. He creates research-based narratives exploring the ways in which “reality” is constructed. These narratives come in the form of lectures, performances, essays, publications, video, and—occasionally—games. After obtaining degrees in Theater Studies at the Free University of Berlin (FU) and Fine Arts at the University of the Arts Berlin (UdK), Till became a Research Scholar at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) where he made his first attempt to grapple with the evasiveness of finance, researching Louis Sullivan’s lost Chicago Stock Exchange building and the current Chicago Board Options Exchange. This resulted in the 2-channel film “Building Fiction (Versuch I).” During his stay at THE NEW INSTITUTE, he will attempt to redraft the material gathered in Chicago for a “Versuch II.” Till’s work has been exhibited internationally, amongst others at Kunstverein Hannover (GER), Re:Publica Conference (GER), Filmfront Chicago (USA), KOW Gallery (GER), and Hammer Museum Los Angeles (USA). His writing has appeared in numerous publications and he has taught in art schools and universities. Most recently, his catalogue “Fabrikanten der Wirklichkeit (Document)” was published by the Kunstverein Hannover.

At THE NEW INSTITUTE, Till is involved in the program 'Futures of Capitalism' in the Academic Year 2024/25.
