Takahiro is a professor at the Institute for Advanced Studies on Asia and the Department of Interdisciplinary Cultural Studies, Graduate School of Arts and Sciences at the University of Tokyo. His research focus is oriented towards East Asian philosophy in the comparative context of inter-East Asian and Western Philosophy, and World Philosophy by seeking for the “universalizing.” Previously, he was editor in chief of the International Journal of Asian Studies, an interdisciplinary, English-language forum for research in the humanities and social sciences. Today, he is director of the East Asian Academy for New Liberal Arts, University of Tokyo, where projects on world philosophy, world literature, and world history are carried out with young talented scholars.
