Book Launch: Seeds for Democratic Futures
Please join us for a book launch for the second book in our book series THE NEW: Seeds for Democratic Futures
About
THE NEW INSTITUTE will be celebrating the publication Seeds for Democratic Futures on Tuesday 3 December. The editors of the volume, Frederic Hanusch and Anna Katsman, will engage in a discussion about the book with three of the authors – Max Krahé, Michael Brüggemann, and Judith Simon – followed by a Q&A.
The 17 essays in Seeds for Democratic Futures were authored by former fellows at THE NEW INSTITUTE and investigate potentials for democratizing democracies. From finding faith to reclaiming the commons, each essay aims to plant a seed, which carries the promise of democratic potentials. Dealing with topics like planetary change, AI, and plural knowledge systems, the book acts as an inspiration, calling for unorthodox, compassionate, and experimental approaches. It is an invitation to cultivate democratic futures that are as diverse, resilient, and vibrant as the societies they aim to serve. Our series THE NEW publishes collaborative research in the humanities and social sciences.
