Andrew is the CEO & Founder of 3DL—Three Degree Living—a new nonprofit that brings communities together to make and implement pathways for living in a hotter future. Since the 2005 Katrina disaster flooded his hometown of New Orleans, he has connected local communities and global systems to prevent, respond to, and recover from catastrophe. Focused on the intersection of governance, culture, and equity, he convenes people to collaboratively address complex challenges.
Andrew is an award-winning attorney and writer, governance innovator, and strategic convener. He holds graduate degrees in American law (J.D., Georgetown University Law Center), public international law (LLM, Leiden University), and ritual & theology (M.Div., Yale University, where he taught “International Challenges of the 21st Century” in the Political Science Department). He has served as a criminal prosecutor, policy advisor for the New Orleans Mayor and Louisiana Governor, and Director of the Resilient Louisiana Commission to guide the state’s economy through COVID-19. In the nonprofit sector, he facilitated inclusive economic planning with Rising Tide Capital and the Center for Planning Excellence. He has lived outside the U.S. in France, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, and Colombia. Andrew is also a playwright, hospital chaplain, and Mardi Gras enthusiast.
At THE NEW INSTITUTE, Andrew is involved in the program Planetary Governance. He joins us in the fall term of 2024.
